We are incredibly proud to have been awarded the High Sheriff’s Shield, recognising our services to the community. This prestigious award was presented to us by the High Sheriff of Cumbria, Christopher Holmes DL, and we are truly grateful for the recognition.
At Whamos Training and Development CIC, our focus is on supporting young neurodiverse learners. Some are home-schooled, others need tuition, and many simply benefit from extra help in a safe, inclusive environment. Our work is about building confidence, offering guidance, and creating opportunities that make a real difference in their lives.
We also want to thank Cumbria Community Foundation for their ongoing support, which has helped us to develop the South Cumbria Skills Exchange into a supportive and welcoming space for learning.
The High Sheriff summed up our mission perfectly when he shared:
“The organisation’s mission is to create an inclusive and supportive environment for individuals with neuro diversity, particularly those who face various technical challenges in the digital and media industry. Their mission is not just about providing training—it’s about nurturing talents, giving confidence and providing pathways for individuals who might otherwise struggle to find their footing in a rapidly evolving field.”
This award is a huge encouragement for our team, and we want to say a big well done to everyone else who received recognition this year—you are all so deserving.
We will continue to support young people, celebrate neurodiversity, and make South Cumbria a place where every learner has the chance to thrive.
