What you will learn
- How 3D printers work, and the materials they use
- Designing a simple object from scratch with free, beginner-friendly CAD software
- Measuring and sketching ideas so that parts fit together
- Preparing a design for printing in slicing software, including supports and print settings
- Printing your model, removing it safely and finishing it
- Spotting and fixing common printing problems
Who it is for
The course is open to anyone curious about design and technology, from young people taking their first steps in engineering to adults who want a creative new skill. No experience of CAD or 3D printing is needed. You will leave with a printed object you designed yourself and the know-how to keep going at home or at a makerspace.
