- The role of an emergency first aider and how to manage an incident safely
- Assessing a casualty and helping someone who is unresponsive, including CPR and using a defibrillator (AED)
- Placing a casualty in the recovery position
- Helping someone who is choking, bleeding, in shock or has a minor injury such as a small cut, graze or burn
Who it is for
This one-day qualification suits lower-risk workplaces, sports clubs, coaches and community groups who need someone trained to act in an emergency until help arrives. The certificate is normally valid for three years.
How it differs from First Aid at Work
Emergency First Aid at Work covers the life-saving essentials in a single day. The three-day First Aid at Work course adds a much wider range of injuries and illnesses, such as fractures, head and spinal injuries, heart attack, stroke, diabetes and epilepsy. Your workplace first aid needs assessment tells you which one you need; if you are unsure, ask us and we will help you work it out.
